[ Of course he won't! Vash will still wait 15 minutes, just in case he's running late, but he really doesn't expect Istradez to show.

Which is why Vash will show at Istradez's door instead -- or at least, the door that his earring tells him that Istradez is behind -- twenty minutes past 5am, knocking loudly. ]

Eventually, Istradez does open the door, looking very well put togetherin splendid jade robes and not at all ready for any sort of physical activity.

"Have you been yelling this whole time?"

[ He looks very pretty! For his part, Vash is wearing sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt of some soft material... although he's still got his big boots on, and his left hand is still in its eternal black leather glove.

He beams at Istradez, not in the least bothered by the man's obvious disinterest in going for a run. ]

You couldn't hear me? That's a good solid door! You ought to see about getting a doorbell though, if you can't hear when somebody's knocking!

[He glances over his shoulder, into the room, then back at him.]

It's soundproof. And I was asleep.

That's kinda dangerous, don't you think?

[ Is there somebody else in there? Vash won't do anything as rude as peer around Istradez's shoulder, but he's sure listening for any sounds coming from the room now that the door is open! ]

What if there was an emergency, and you couldn't hear the alarms?

[He doesn't stop him from looking into Mikodez's room.]

Oh don't be dramatic.

Is there something you needed?

[ He won't look. That would be rude. ]

You! Or did you forget that we had an appointment?

I didn't make an appointment.

[He raises his eyebrows at him.]

True. I made it for you yesterday, don't you remember? Five am, wear something to run in?

[ Like his outfit, see? Surely there's sweatpants in that fancy room somewhere? ]

Come on, get changed! The day is fresh and new and ready to be seized!

[He leans against the doorframe.]

Get changed? [He shakes his head and starts to back away to let the door close.]

[ Vash will just stand there in the hallway and let the door shut. He did say go get changed, so closing the door is reasonable!

Sure, he knows that Istradez isn't pulling on a pair of sneakers to come join him on this run, but he's also giving him the benefit of the doubt. At some point, Istradez will decide to do the right thing, and Vash will be able to say that he believed in the guy all along.

So Istradez can take his time getting changed. Vash will lean back against the wall next to the door and wait patiently. He's discovered the network now, so if Istradez takes more than 15 minutes Vash at least has something to scroll through.

He's going to wait until Istradez comes out, no matter how long that takes. ]

[Istra waits a full hour before he opens the door.]

Oh, you're still here.

[As if his brother hadn't told him he was.]

[ An hour was more than long enough to look back through the last couple of days' on the network, where Vash found a very interesting conversation about what makes a good warden, and another about whether people will want to leave the Barge once they're given the opportunity. Not everyone said yes, which he's starting to realize isn't that uncommon.

But that only took about twenty minutes. The rest of the time he's been keeping himself occupied with a easy and gentle version of his usual morning workout -- pushups, then situps, and by he time Istradez opens the door he's moved on to one-handed handstands facing the door. ]

I'm still here.

[ And still upside down. ]

Did you get lost in there?

[He smiles at him.]

I did. And I seem to have forgotten what we were doing. But no matter. You seem like you enjoyed yourself.

[He starts to walk down the hallway.]

I did!

[ As Istradez passes him Vash flips easily back to upright and falls into pace beside him. ]

Usually my workout is a little more intense than that, but I've been warned before about stinking up the place.

[ He's not even sweating. ]

Besides! I didn't know when you'd be finished.

Of course.

[He hides his hands in his robes, not bothering to wait for Vash as he walks a route to the library, but nor does he speed up to get away.]

Did you get the information you wanted out of Mikodez? I heard you spoke with him.

[Mikodez wasn't woken up when his augment told him that someone was at the door, as he had yet to go to sleep. He lying on a low couch, working on a revised set of rules for 'Risk', having put his tower building game into sleep mode.

He looks up when Istradez comes in, not trying to hide his grin.] Getting ready to go seize the day?

[As soon as the door closes, Istra goes to dramatically lie at his brother's feet.]

Can you believe what he said?

I am not seizing anything.

The day is fresh and new. [Possibly. Might not count if you haven't gone to sleep.]

I've heard going on a run is good for your mental health. [He's deeply entertained by Vash showing up. Is he going to stay there until Istradez has another reason to go out? Does he know when people eat breakfast? And that doesn't even take into account that Mikodez has food in his cabin.

Fun for the whole family (which, here, is just him).] Unfortunately, I'm not sure it would be right for me.

[He closes his eyes.]

If I go, the run will kill me.

[Fearless as ever, he puts down his pad to reach over and pat Istradez on the head.]

I'll make sure to put up a memorial.

Neither of us have to do this.

[As funny as it is to tease Istradez about it.] He can't make you, and he wouldn't win any support for trying even if it occurred to him to try. Either of agreeing would just set up a bad precedent.

[Also he doesn't feel like it.]
