hadn't been... entirely good, but I never considered an alternative. It
was just the way things were, and mostly irrelevant now that I've left them
behind.
Two brothers wanted to keep me after breaches. Jasper was easier, since I
already trusted him more than most on board, but at least I knew Will. I
also gained a brother in law, Will's husband Malcolm.
I have a human half brother back in my world, but we only spoke a couple of
times. He was... honest, but not kind. I don't think he knew how to be.
My brothers here know better.
Mm. I spent my first two years on board doing my best to hate everyone I
cared about and wanted to trust. It felt too dangerous to let anyone close.
It's a good thing my warden and my fiance had already worn me down, or
Jasper and Will wouldn't have stood a chance after those breaches. You and
Mikodez wouldn't stand a chance after this one.
I'm back in my aquatic form, so you know to expect it. And I should
properly introduce you to Hjerte. The octopus you saw me with before.
He's a part of me given his own voice and body, not a separate creature.
He talks, when he feels like it.
